There is a Fine Line....

My girlfriends and I went to the Snootybucks (Starbucks in a nice part of town) and they gave me a quick lesson on differences/ with a fine line... for instance....
Did you know that there is a (fine line) between Eclectic & Eccentric... don't 'overdo' the decor... just a bit of different styles are okay but... if you feel like you're at Epcot traveling to different styles from room to room..well... you've crossed the line... Sanctuary is now catagorized as ECLECTIC not Eccentric!
Okay... there's also a (fine line) between Texas Gaudy & Fabumore... ladies we all know that size doesn't matter! Dallas has gotten the reputation..."every-thing's bigger in Big 'D"... but honestly... get something 'fabumore' (why should it be called fabu.less?) and the perfect piece will make a statement! (big or small)... Getting anything that has been 'bdazzeled' or the size of 'Big Tex' crosses the line!
Now of course we can't get confused between the (fine line) of Dinky and Simply Elegant... the perfect example (as my girlfriend pointed out)... is a dinky sized ring on a on a big hand... be proportionate... don't let the 'space ' you are decorating be overpowering... fill to just the right amount... you'll know! Now... you've crossed the line... if you gasp "AHHHhhh" as in that's CUTE?! rather than "AHHHHHH" that's so elegant!!!
Anyhow... just blabbing... have fun decorating any style your heart desires! Just come see us at Sanctuary... where our style is eclectic, fabumore, and .... simply elegant!

A New Perspective...Being Thankful

Just another thought... While driving to work this morning, I was doing my usual praying...I was just thanking God ---thanking Him for everything...He is, after all, the Creator of...ALL things..! It occurred to me that --We--as Americans--(immigrants or not) live in the most incredible country of them all! Think of the freedoms that we enjoy---we as Americans are wealthy compared to the majority of the world! Why do we spend so much time complaining---comparing ourselves to the Jones'---moaning about what we could have or worse ..are entitled to have?!! Get a grip people --I know that we are all guilty of the "wants"...but take a look around...
I woke up this morning to freshly brewed coffee that had been turned on automatically ---Had a choice of a shower or a bath with instant hot water ---opened my closet to choose from...how many jeans...shoes...shirts??! Pushed the button to get the garage to open...climbed into a "sububba" with satellite radio...cuz..you know...the normal radio doesn't get enough stations...blared the a/c and went on smooth concrete roads (toll road) to get to where I was going faster...Talked on the cell phone..cuz it couldn't wait another minute...said "I love you" to my family...
Well, you get the picture...WE all need to be thankful! Yes there are bumps in the road.. but for the most part --we do have it great!
...Use wisdom...be Healthy...be grateful...mike right choices...give of yourself to those that may not be as fortunate...read...learn about the world...look out the window...see details...get connected with family and friends...laugh...contimplate...and most of all ...Get a New Perspective...it's all good!

Social Networks

Have you ever wondered if all of this "social networking" stuff works?....hmm...something to ponder!
I mean --- sure we all have seen the live streams of the wretched attacks on the lives of the Iranians--- the communications of the great men and women that are serving in our Armed Forces (voluntarily- I might add) with their family and friends... the news of the "King of Pop" dying and the ability to 'cyberly' attend his funeral...but does all of this stuff work for marketing purposes?
We have Facebook, Twitter, Linkdln, My Space, Flock, You Tube, Orkut, hi5, Plaxo.... THE LIST GOES ON & ON! How many friends can we really have...how much time do we have in the day to update...post...or tell what we are thinking and doing?
Do you think that it takes away from productivity? I'm sure you know the people that are logged on constantly! We can practically say "God Bless You" after they've posted that they've sneezed! Do they take their blackberry or iphone to the bathroom with them? I can't imagine having my cell or computer with me all of the time...(of course my friends get mad at me because I don't check my emails or leave my phone in the car half of the time!.. I even know the people that as soon as I log on they send an IM or immediately comment on my status...but wait I thought that they worked! When do they work? Does their boss know that they're on the computer?
...I admit there are times that I've gotten lost in FB land..just snooping around at everybody's life..and you know what....I haven't gotten a thing accomplished!... Zero productivity...just snooping! Maybe we need to spend the time creating relationships...talking - writing (with a pen) - face to face interaction - thinking - creating things that really matter...
..It's almost like we need to hire a full time networker...like the celebs do...
Oh well..it was just a thought!...Gotta go Login and POST that I blogged today! Bibi

Our Travel Adventure!

Isn't it wonderful when you can incorporate pleasure on a business trip? The stress and strain of pure business trips are a drag without some fun relaxing moments. My business partner and I love to enjoy work! We laugh often, which relieves the tensions of the multitude of decisions that must be made hourly as we search for those special one of a kind treasures to introduce in our store.

On our last trip, we had so much to carry on the airplane that we were totally at the mercy of the airline stewardess, oops, flight attendance. I was sweating bullets as we walked through customs. I had visions of being the one that they would want to search just because of this ‘larger than huge’ bag that I was struggling to carry through. We laughed as the tears streamed down. Sweating as only a middle-aged woman does and understands. Why don't they use air conditioning in foreign airports? I bet they enjoy seeing our beet red faces, makeup in streams running down our faces, panting with all our oversized carry-ons!

Without laughing, how could we handle all this?
